The Relationship Between Water Reducing Agent And Concrete And Its Components(I)

Post Date:3,Jun,2025

Effect of high-efficiency water-reducing agent on concrete:

1. Effect on fresh concrete

① Workability: Adding high-efficiency water-reducing agent can increase the fluidity of concrete; the slump of concrete increases with the increase of high-efficiency water-reducing agent dosage. When the dosage reaches 0.75%, the slump increase reaches the maximum. When the dosage increases further, the slump increases, but the increase tends to be gentle.

The slump of concrete with high-efficiency water-reducing agent loses quickly, generally losing most of the slump within 1 hour, and it is greater when the temperature is high. Generally, the suitable dosage of high-efficiency water-reducing agent is 0.5%~0.75%. When the cement dosage is large, the suitable dosage is 0.9%~1.2%.

② Setting time: High-efficiency water-reducing agent has little effect on the setting time of concrete. The type and dosage of high-efficiency water-reducing agent are different, and the degree of influence is different; the effect of high-efficiency water-reducing agent on its setting is also different for different cement types.

③ Water seepage: Adding high-efficiency water-reducing agent to concrete can reduce its water seepage rate, which is causative.

④ Air content: Increase the air content of concrete.

⑤ Hydration heat: The hydration heat and thermal peak temperature of cement with high-efficiency water-reducing agent are close to those of cement without admixtures, but the thermal peak time is delayed by several hours. High-efficiency water-reducing agent reduces the hydration heat of slag cement.

The Relationship Between Water Reducing Agent And Concrete And Its Components

Effect of high-efficiency water-reducing agent on hardened concrete:

① Compressive strength: Keeping the workability of concrete the same, the strength of concrete will increase with the increase of high-efficiency water-reducing agent dosage.

② The tensile strength, flexural strength and steel bar bonding strength are increased to varying degrees.

③ When the compressive strength of concrete is kept the same, the addition of high-efficiency water-reducing agent has no obvious effect on the static elastic modulus of concrete. Even if the compressive strength of concrete increases significantly, the static elastic modulus of concrete does not increase much.

④ The concrete with high-efficiency water-reducing agent maintains the same strength, and its early shrinkage is similar to that of blank concrete, and its later shrinkage is less than that of blank concrete.

⑤ The creep of concrete with high-efficiency water-reducing agent is slightly less than that of blank concrete.

⑥ The long-term strength of concrete with high-efficiency water reducing agent increases in the same way as blank concrete.

⑦ The addition of high-efficiency water reducing agent can reduce the water consumption of concrete. Under certain workability conditions, high-strength concrete and ultra-high-strength concrete with a compressive strength of 100MPa can be produced.

⑧ Anti-pile hammer performance: Concrete with high-efficiency water reducing agent CRS has better or at least the same anti-hammer performance as blank concrete.
