Redispersible Polymer Powder: a key material for improving the performance of building mortar

Redispersible Polymer Powder is a water-soluble redispersible powder, the main components of which are ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer, tert-butyl vinyl acetate/vinyl acetate/ethylene, vinyl acetate/tert-butyl vinyl acetate copolymer, acrylic acid copolymer, etc. The polymer emulsion is generated by a specific polymerization reaction, with polyvinyl alcohol as a protective colloid, and is made by spray drying. The role of redispersible latex powder in building mortar

1.Enhance flexibility and crack resistance:

After the redispersible latex powder is redispersed with water, a continuous polymer film is formed in the pores and surface of the building mortar. The film absorbs external stress (such as temperature changes and foundation settlement) through elastic deformation, which improves the crack resistance of the building mortar by about 30% and significantly reduces the risk of cracks.

The polymer in the redispersible latex powder can penetrate into the micropores of the base material (such as walls and tiles), and a mechanical interlocking structure is formed after the water evaporates, which enhances the bonding between the building mortar and the base.
